The Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL) has launched a recombinant Hepatitis-B vaccine free of heavy metals.

Ela lily of US is the only international pharmaceutical company which has developed such vaccine free of heavy metals. This was announced by Bharat Biotech MD Krishna Ella a highly qualified professional with a doctrate in molecular biology and DNA technology.

Thorough state-of-the-art technological process developed by BBIL through R&D efforts, over 85% of heavy metals like Cesium Chloride have been seperated and eliminated from the vaccine. The BBIL has capacity to produce 100 million doses per annum.

The vaccine is being sold at Rs 150 per dose which is much lesser than the price being quoted by the US MNC. The Hepatitis-B vaccine launched in southern states, has reported an annual turnover of 14 crore on this single product alone.
