Streptokinase from Bharat Biotech soon

Hyderabad, Sep. 15: Bharat Biotech International Limited will be launching a new drug, Streptokinase in January 2000. The new drug is being developed with animal trials being done presently and to move to clinical trials by mid-November, Krishna Ella, chairman and managing director told newsmen here on Wednesday. The company has also increased its capacity to 100 million doses of hepatitis B vaccine annually. The total investment is Rs 21 crore for the project. The company is to get Rs 1.4 crore R&D grant from CSIR for research in gene therapy to develop drugs for cancer patients in this month. It has won 3 contracts to supply 1 m doses from municipal corporations and State governments.
