Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL) has rolled out two new vaccines, BioHib, the first indigenously developed and manufactured Haemophilus Influenza type b (Hib) vaccine in the country, and a tetravalent combination vaccine, Comvac4-HB. The entire development of BioHib was handled in-house by the Hyderabad-based company which had invested several millions of dollars over last four years. Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) bacterium causes serious disease, often life-threatening illnesses in young children including meningitis and severe pneumonia.
