The discovery and development of Revac-B World's First Cesium Chloride Free Recombinant Hepatitis-B Vaccine in 1998, offered Bharat Biotech's young business (established in 1996) the opportunity to foster significant revenue potential in an area of high unmet need. The traditional pharmaceutical industry, based on its chemical engineering capabilities, was unable to fulfill this need.
Following the success of Revac-B's development and production, Bharat Biotech was assured of the capture of significant New market segments in the Vaccines industry both within and outside the country.
The brand has found instant acceptance in the country and is today one of the leading brands in its product category with over 140 million doses dispensation till date. The company has strong field presence all over India to promote and to cater to the technical needs of the brand to the doctors. The distribution network is well spread with maintenance of cold chain all over to ensure product quality.
Bharat Biotech advanced its expertise further with the development of its second key product BIOGIT, India's First indigenously manufactured Probiotic Yeast. BIOGIT scored over other Probiotics and existing Lactobacillus products with its own set of unique strengths.
Bharat Biotech launched its second key Vaccine - TYPBAR, a New Generation Typhoid Vaccine in 2003. Infectious diseases are the bane of tropical countries and introduction of TYPBAR, a Vi Polysaccharide Vaccine was instantly welcomed.
Emboldened by the success, Bharat Biotech added another First to its growing list by introducing ZELECT – Zinc with Oral Rehydration Salts based on WHO approved formula.
All these products experienced rapid uptake among the medical community and opened a New era of financial stability for Bharat Biotech.
Bharat Biotech's independent sales and marketing division worked hard to build brands. This success boosted its Growth and made the company the leading biotech powerhouse in the country. The independent marketing policy gave Bharat Biotech the opportunity to develop its own sales force early and later to accumulate significant expertise in marketing strategies, both pre-launch and post-launch. The company became the First to develop and launch INDIKINASE in 2003 - India's First Recombinant Streptokinase, the firstline therapy for myocardial infarction. INDIKINASE is poised to offer substantial market expansion opportunities for the mature Recombinant Streptokinase brand.
In 2005, Bharat Biotech became country's First biotechnology company to launch recombinant human Epidermal Growth Factor (rhEGF) – REGEN-D. The company introduced REGEN-D in two strengths; REGEN-D 150 for Diabetic Foot Ulcers and REGEN-D 60 for I & II Degree Burns and conditions arising from Donor Site Skin Grafts.
Bharat Biotech launched India's state-of-the-art anti-rabies vaccine INDIRAB. The vaccine is indicated for both prophylactic (pre-bite) and therapeutic (post-bite) treatments. The vaccine is a lyophilized vero cell-based rabies vaccine (PVRV), which is chromatographically purified to reduce cellular DNA content and foreign protein content.
